Electric Power R&D Company Seeks Technical Leader for Nuclear Long Term Operations Projects (Charlotte, NC, Knoxville, TN, and Palo Alto, CA) The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is looking for a Senior Project Manager with technical experience to lead and manage major research projects in the Long Term Operations (LTO) area of its Nuclear Sector.

The LTO project is expected to grow significantly in coming years.

Collaborative activities at Department of Energy and elsewhere are significant and growing.

LTO is an emerging industry issue.

The project exposes one to a diversity of issues important to the future of nuclear power.

In This Position The Long Term Operations Project is unique for its breadth of technical scope, coordination among EPRI programs, collaboration with external entities, diverse funding sources, and long-term focus.

The project has grown to more than $3M of sector and supplemental funding and $2M of Technical Innovation funding and has matured from a portfolio of individual projects to a strategic collection of projects with expectations for results to enable high performance operation and license renewal beyond 60 years.

The project is staffed by a Technical Executive, relying heavily on project management and subject matter expertise from EPRI programs.

The scope of the project has now reached the point where additional strong technical leadership and oversight is required.

Job Functions: All project management duties for a number of LTO projectsCoordination and oversight of EPRI project managers performing LTO activities in other programsCoordination and direction of LTO advisors and working groupsDeveloping and maintaining the LTO strategic plan with participating EPRI project managers and advisorsCollaboration with technical leads and program management of the DOE LWRS Program The Ideal Candidate Strong awareness of many technical areas including materials, information technology, analytical methods, and equipment reliability.

Excellent communications and teamwork skills.

Ability to visualize long-term (5 to 10 year) goals, strategies to achieve them, and risks to success.

Collaborative approach, open to the view of others and to innovative and diverse solutions.

Education Level and Years of Experience An advanced degree in a technical discipline is necessary.

A PhD is desirable.

Experience in or related to the commercial nuclear industry is required.
